Extra Large Print
An impatient look at an enlarged digital print just after collecting from the printers in Shoreditch.
Made from a high resolution scan of the first panel of Simulacrum as shown in the sorriest things show this autumn.
I have been encouraged to blow these panels that are 30 cm x 40 cm to nearly four times their original size. It is interesting to see such a small thing as a flower at such a scale. The intimacy is not diminished and they retain a quietness despite their scale.
The process: a plastic flower exposed to light to form a cyanotype photogram on wood which is then subjected to a high resolution scan takes the notion of scrutiny, record and trace to an almost forensic level. It is as if they are irradiated, burnished fossils of memory, time, form and light.
The first enlarged print in preparation for a show in the future.
